Snowparks
Skiing and snowboarding are far from the only Tahoe activities you can enjoy during the winter. Once you try the many other winter activities, including sledding and tubing, you’ll wonder why you just stuck to skiing in the past.
Granlibakken
Here, the whole family can ice skate at the rink, take an adrenaline-filled snowmobile ride through the back country, or toboggan down one of the many runs. This resort is located on Granlibakken Avenue in Tahoe City proper.
North Tahoe Regional Park
This is a great place to bring the whole family, and spending an afternoon here won’t break the bank. For just $5, you get access to two well-maintained hills. The use of plastic sleds is also included in the price.
Squaw Valley USA
There are a variety of snow activities to enjoy at Squaw Valley. Right next to the Red Dog lift, you’ll find the bunny hill. Here, saucers and sleds can be rented for a small fee, allowing the entire family to enjoy hours of winter fun. At high camp, there is an ice skating rink, as well as several snowshoeing paths.
Northstar at Tahoe
There are always activities happening during the winter at Northstar, from skating to bungee jumping. Best of all, they are free! The Mine, a kids’ center at Northstar, organizes various winter activities every week for kids 12 and under. Two separate hills can be used for tobogganing, and sleds can be rented for a nominal fee.
