The streets of most cities in Tahoe’s North Shore are lined with shops. Tahoe City is famous for its designer stores, particularly those that carry high end snow gear. If you manage to visit the dozens of stores in Tahoe City and Truckee, you can always stop by the area resorts, where you’ll find more unique and diverse shops. The Village at Squaw Valley has dozens of stores specializing in winter apparel and other goods, as does the Northstar Resort.
Before hitting the art galleries and snowboard shops, you’ll probably want to stock your Lake Tahoe Rental Home with some food and drinks. The largest grocery store in the area, which is also the easiest to find, is Safeway. It’s located on Highway 89 in downtown Tahoe City.
Tahoe City has several areas with large concentrations of shops. Each section of the city has its own rich character and unique establishments you likely won’t find anywhere else.
