Beaches
Few things can compare to spending a relaxing day at one of Tahoe’s exquisite beaches. Soft sand, warm sunshine, and clear blue water make Tahoe’s beaches a favorite area attraction. There are likely numerous centrally-located beaches just minutes from your Vacation Property, so be sure to head out for a day of sunbathing or swimming during your stay.
Tahoe Commons Beach
Tahoe Commons is a four-acre park in downtown Tahoe City. One of the most popular beaches in Tahoe, it is a favorite spot for sunbathers, swimmers, and those who want to enjoy an old-fashioned summer picnic. The two well-equipped playgrounds, large lawn area, conveniently-located restrooms, outdoor grills, and picnic tables make the Tahoe Commons one of the most convenient and enjoyable beaches on the lake. Movies are shown in the park every Wednesday, and a Thursday night farmer’s market is held throughout the summer.
Coons Beach
This Coon Street beach is located on the east side of King’s Beach. Although it is less popular than the Commons, it does have numerous amenities, including shaded picnic areas and outdoor BBQs. Because it isn’t usually crowded, Coons is an ideal beach if you want to enjoy some privacy and solitude. During the summer, Coons Beach is the site of a Friday night farmer’s market.
Kilner Park
Kilner Park is about 3 miles south of Tahoe City on Highway 89. With its playgrounds, tennis courts, and well-maintained (not to mention extremely popular) sand volleyball court, Kilner Park is a great family beach. With its recreation facilities and expansive picnic areas, Kilner is also an ideal place for groups. The beauty of this beach, as well as its heavily-wooded areas that provide shade from the summer sun, make this Tahoe attraction one that is definitely worth visiting.
Kings Beach State Recreation Area
This beach is located in the heart of Kings Beach, off Highway 28.
Kings Beach is an expansive beach with soft sand. Well maintained and absolutely breathtaking, this beach has numerous amenities, including restrooms and convenient parking. Visitors should note that there is a fee for parking. North Tahoe Watersports caters to this beach’s visitors, offering parasail, jet ski, and kayak rentals for those who want to experience some heart-pounding water fun!
Lake Forest Beach Park
This family-friendly park is at the end of Bristlecone in Lake Forest, about a mile from Tahoe City.
This is a great location for swimmers—the winds are usually calm and there are some shaded areas. Wildlife sightings are common here, so bring your camera along! Visitors should note that only a limited amount of parking space is available.
North Tahoe Beach
This beach is in Kings Beach, right at the intersection of the main highways. Huge, well-maintained picnic areas, restrooms, grills, and volleyball courts make Kings Beach worth visiting. If you want to enjoy an outdoor picnic, the sheltered areas big enough for large groups and the numerous amenities make North Tahoe an excellent choice. During the summer, there is a large seasonal information center where you can talk to local experts who will answer all of your questions about Lake Tahoe and its major attractions.
Sand Harbor
This beach is located in Incline Village, just a couple miles south of Lake Tahoe’s east shore community. Sand Harbor is a very popular beach because of its soft sand and beautiful views. There are numerous amenities here, from bathrooms and showers to snack bars. Sand Harbor is the site of the annual Tahoe Shakespeare Festival and several other notable annual events.
