Area Communities

Tahoe City is located on the Northwest corner of Lake Tahoe in the perfect location for year round fun.  Unlimited activities are at your fingertips including, dining, shopping, skiing, hiking, biking, golf, and beaches.  Squaw Valley Ski Resort and Alpine Meadows Ski Resort are only 7 miles away and everything else is within a mile of the entire Tahoe City area.  You’ll find Commons Beach, dozens of quaint shops, fabulous dining, and the Tahoe City Golf Course.

Sunnyside is the perfect family location with many secluded neighborhoods, fabulous homes, and the famous Sunnyside Lodge where you’ll experience fine dining with fabulous entrees and spectacular views of Lake Tahoe.  Sunnyside is a great area close to beaches, Tahoe City, and Squaw Valley, Homewood and Alpine Meadows ski resorts.  The Granlibakken Resort is also very close with a unque lift operation for sledding.

Homewood is a fabulous section of Lake Tahoe located directly on the beautiful west shore. Homewood features world-class skiing at Homewood Ski Resort with unbelievable lake views.  Some great restaurants are tucked away along with the Historic Sugar Pine Point just a couple of miles away.  The Hellman-Ehrman Mansion which was built in 1903 has daily tours throughout the summer, there is 2 miles of amazing beaches and tennis courts.  Activities include hiking, swimming, fishing, cross-country skiing, and a Nature Center perfect for families.

Dollar Point is located just a couple of miles east of Tahoe City.  This is a private Home Owner’s Association with many great amenities.  You’ll find your own private sandy beach, lakeside park, pool, and tennis courts.  Only a few minutes from town for shopping, dining, and more.

Carnelian Bay and Agate Bay are centrally located in the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.  These two small communities have great neighborhoods along with some fantastic beaches, restaurants, and plenty of outdoor activities.  Mountain biking, hiking, and fishing are just some of the things to do.  Garwood’s lakefront restaurant is a beautiful place for an evening of fine dining, and lunch on the deck is one of the best places to enjoy Lake Tahoe’s scenic beauty.

Kings Beach
is located just minutes from the Nevada stateline where you will find several 24 hour casinos including the world famous Cal-Neva Casino.  This unique lakefront casino was made famous in the 60’s when it was owned by Frank Sinatra between 1960 to 1963.  Kings Beach is located only 6 miles from Northstar Ski Resort, and the Old Brockway Golf Course lies directly in the heart of the town.  There are many wonderful restaurants, very nice sandy beaches, and plenty of activities to keep you busy day and night.

Incline Village is located in the Northeast corner of Lake Tahoe and is where some of the world’s wealthiest people have built stunning mountain retreats.  There are many fabulous restaurants, three in-town  beaches, multiple close opportunities for hiking & biking, and the Diamond Peak Ski Resort is located directly in the heart of Incline Village.  Just a few miles away is Sand Harbor State Park which is great for water sports and relaxing on the beach, and hosts the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival in the summer.  The Hyatt Casino is located just a block from the beach for 24 hour gaming and the Lone Eagle Grill (located in the casino) is notably one of the best restaurants in Lake Tahoe.

Getting Here

Getting to North Lake Tahoe is easy, whether your plane is touching down at the Truckee Airport, the Reno/Tahoe International Airport, or in Sacramento or San Francisco.

If you’ve landed at the Truckee Airport…you’re almost here. This small airport is just 15 minutes away from North Lake Tahoe, so grab your area map and drive to your condo, luxury home, or rustic cabin in the woods.

If you’re coming from the Reno/Tahoe International Airport…you’re just an hour away. If you’d like to relax and let someone else do the driving, consider hopping aboard the North Lake Tahoe Express. This shuttle service runs daily from 3:30am until midnight, and stops at over a dozen of North Tahoe’s most popular hotels and resorts. If you’re driving, head west on the Interstate 80 and turn off onto Highway 267. You can either follow it to Kings Beach or get onto Highway 89 in Truckee and follow it to Tahoe City.

If you’re in Sacramento or San Francisco…getting here will take a few hours. North Lake Tahoe is about two hours from Sacramento and approximately four from San Francisco. Head east on Interstate 80, exit onto Highway 89 South, and follow it until you reach Tahoe City.
